"The Black Pearl" ( inspired by the lovely Pirate Ship of the Same Name")
This was a custom made gown for the annual Marc Jacob's Christmas Party ( New York City.) The theme of the party was Venetian Carnevale.
Overall, a stunning Rococo inspired gown in silver, metallic gold and black brocade with velvet accents.
The front of the gown features a central large velvet applique,
of Baroque Italian inspiration.
The dress is built on a corseted, boned bodice
that laces up the back.
The skirt boast 30 plus yards of ruffled and scalloped brocade attached in tiers into a lovely train in the back.
In the candlelight this dress sparkled magnificently, due to the metallic threads in the weave of the fabric.
(they refuse to show up in flash photos though).
