Abandoned House, Saugerties, New York, Original Photograph

This abandoned Victorian mansion in Saugerties, NY, had gone from home, to restaurant, to hang out for teen vandals, to squat for homeless people. You can see not only a mattress and box spring that were left behind, but also a bird's nest in the corner of the room. It's fascinating to me that anyone would abandon such a grand and beautiful building, rather than attempting to restore it.

This is a photograph from an actual negative (remember those?), not a digital print. The texture you'll see in the image is richer and more three dimensional than digital photographs. The color is warmer, too.
