Offered is a stainless steel durable metal pill case. This pill box is a good size-not too big and not too small. The pillcase measures just under 2 inch diameter. The pillbox has a hard plastic liner on the inside as well as a removable plastic tri-separator to sort your items. This separator stays locked or can be easily removed for a larger pillcase interior to hold larger items. The inside top of the pillcase is also lined so the metal does not touch your pills. This item is handmade by me and brand new and can be used to hold pills, vitamins, guitar picks, small coins, buttons and other smaller items. The case opens from a push device on the side. The image is protected by a translucent, shiny coating. Makes a perfect, affordable gift for teachers, loved ones, birthdays, weddings, holidays, anniversaries, sisters, brothers, grandmothers, friends, extended family, and of course, a little something special for yourself!

My original cabinet card features one of the most iconic images I have ever seen in medical related early photography or Victorian Americana. The original photo is from the early to mid-1880's and was taken by a photographer named "Johnson" in Marengo, Iowa. The photo shows a doctor or medical student standing next to a standing female full skeleton while holding an actual skull. In the foreground is a shelf unit that shows a group of medical supplies, a medical bag, a group of bones (I assume human?), and several surgical tools.

I am able to date this to the early to mid 1880's through another cabinet card I have in my collection from Marengo, Iowa which shows the same shelf cabinet in the photo and is dated 1886 on back. Though the photographer is different on this other photo, photographers commonly shared studios and used the same props. I am guessing the medical photo is earlier due to the cardboard stock on that cabinet card compared to the 1886 photo.

The pill box image area is cropped to show the main elements of this photo which is the man and skeleton and skull. I attach the full cabinet card image on this ad just to show what the original looks like. The original cabinet cost me quite a bit and is one of the highspots of my collection of antique photography. (and not for sale!). I have been collecting Victorian photography for over 4 years and have a large collection of cased photos, CDV's, ambrotypes, dags, tintypes, etc. I also have a very large and comprehensive sideshow ephemera collection (which has a lot of photography elements to it) and and collection of post mortem photography.

Early medical photography is generally very rare and has gained a following since Stanley Burns put out a series of books on the subject. I am sure you will enjoy this little piece for your collection!
