This pod pot is the opposite of most: Wherever it was in firing, it retained most of the swirling ash deposits. Its encrustations are legend! I call any surface like this "pit lichen," meaning it's dry crackling, crusty and sometimes copper patina greenish markings have that organic feeling of growth.

Each pod pot is handformed and hand burnished before the first firing. The copper, salt and other volatiles in the firing give each pot absolutely unique markings. Most retain a fair amount of shine from the burnishing, this one got the lucky fire deposits. Both results are wonderful. Whatever remains shiny is buffed with a beeswax and olive oil mix.

I found a way to attach the lid, making the pot good for containing secret treasures, confetti, herbs, holiday cash or anything else you can think of. If you leave the cord loose you have a terrific sculptural loop to play with: see the photos. I had fun changing the directions of this normally smooth loop, showing off what's possible.

The nature of primitive firing makes this pot better for containing dry objects and not suitable for food or liquids.

This petite pocket/pocketbook-sized pot measures 2 1/2"H x 2 1/2"W x 1 3/4"D
