These lovely little vases are fantastically stable. I originally designed them for the lavender growing in front of our house. I wanted to show off those long sweeping stems so needed something that would stand up while not hiding the stem itself. Rhodies, roses, gerbera daisies, regular daisies, (just a few of the things that I've tried) look fun and lively and happy in them. Even tumbleweeds ( I saw one of my little vases on the mantle when i went to a party and it held a tumbleweed that they had unknowingly dragged home under their car, from the midwest to the northwest. It was charming).
What you can't see from the outside is a teeny tiny bowl on the inside of the base to catch the bottom of the stems and help keep them upright.
This one is 3.25" wide x 1.25" tall, porcelain clay, turquoise glaze on the body with a bright red lip.
An artist friend uses one to hold her finest paintbrushes.
4th picture shows a similar bud vase in action.
I throw them on a pottery wheel, then carve in textures for the glazes to pool and break over . Each one is filled with water when finished and tested over 24 hours against leaking or sweating.
