Made by the Oakland, CA Palmer-Chase Company circa 1930, this "interesting and educational" cardboard "Jig-Saw-Type" Puzzle is entitled "Pals" and features an illustration by Dorothy Dell Logan that is not pictured anywhere on the box.
Old puzzles like this predate the interlocking piece designs we know today; in this case, only the outer border pieces "lock" together, while the others are cut in strange and sometimes fantastical shapes. One must use additional concentration when working this kind of puzzle; a careless nudge and hours of your hard work can simply scatter!
Condition is Excellent, with very mild signs of age, only a few of its original 275 pieces are missing (see photos) and a bit of schmutz on the end panel of the box lid...
