This engraving was produced by A. H. Payne engravers in Leipzig and Dresden in the late 1860's. It is a steel engraving which tells the scriptural story of Jesus raising Jarius' daughter from the dead. Intense color highlights the focal point of the image. I was told that this is a bookplate, and that was originally in a book. However, I am not an expert in this area, so I don't know for sure. The title is in both English and German. The print is signed "L. Clasen" in the lower left hand corner and is signed "A. H. Payne sc" in the lower right-hand corner. When I obtained the print it came shrink wrapped (ugh) in a mat with a carboard backing. The mat and the carboard are included, primarily to protect it during shipping. The print has a fair amount of "burn" from the cardboard on the back and around the edges. I do not know if this can be restored or not.
The actual size of the image is 11 inches wide and 9 1\/8 inches high
The size of the image with the mat is 15 inches wide and 13 inches high
