fossilized sea urchin from Morocco. This specimen is approximately 134 million years old. The detail in this is perfect, down to the tiny little spines.
The sea urchin is about 7/8" across. It is varying shades of grey, and is completely solid. The ring has a nice weight on the finger, but is not too heavy.
The ring is finished in a number of different textures. The band is embossed in an undulating wave pattern. I finished the fine silver bezel in a brushed texture. I oxidized the silver, and polished back the high areas. The grays and blacks created by the oxidization process perfectly compliment the tones in the sea urchin.
This ring is a size 10 1/4. I have one more of these little guys in my studio if you would like to contact me about creating a custom piece of jewelry with it for you.
