McElligot's Pool by Dr. Seuss was originally copyrighted in 1947, and this copy printed in 1975. This story is about the anticipation and patience required with the hobby of fishing. It also is an early statement on environmental preservation and ecology. True to Dr. Seuss tradition, this fishing child's imagination runs wild, and his fishing line extends around the world from his spot in McElligot's pool. This delightful hardcover, library-bound book contains 64 pages all of which have illustrations; most are almost full page. The book has been used, but has a lot of good life left either as is, or for paper crafts. The front end page contains library stamps and pocket. The back inside cover and end page has the remains of a child's trial and practice at being an artist like Dr. Seuss. One page has dark pencil marks. A few other pages have tiny tears on the edges not more than one inch long. Some of the pages show signs of having been handled by busy little hands. The cover has had a library label taped to the spine and shows heavy wear. The binding remains tight. This well-loved copy of a classic children's story would make the perfect gift for a Seuss enthusiast, a "green" person, or fisherman!
