Good conduct metal has on one side an American eagle standing on a closed book and a Roman sword. The words "Efficiency, Honor, Fidelity" at the medal's edge. The other side has five-pointed star above a blank scroll suitable for engraving and with the words "For Good Conduct" encircled by a wreath of laurel and oak leaves.
The Air Force Commendation metal is a bronze hexagon on it is the seal of the Air Force, an eagle with wings spread, facing left, perched upon a baton. There are clouds in the background. Below the seal is a shield bearing a pair of flier's wings and a baton with an eagle's claw at either end; behind the shield are eight lightning bolts. With the words "For Military Merit"
The Air Force Commendation Medal is awarded to Air Force members below the grade of Brigadier General for distinguishing themselves by heroism, outstanding achievement or by other meritorious services that do not warrant a higher award.
