This stunning and unusual envelope-shaped compact was one of a number of novelties made by Coty in the 1940s and 1950s. The case is made to the highest quality in gold coloured metal which has been engine turned for subtle decoration. Inside the envelope is a rectangular mirror and a highly polished inner lid which bears the makers mark 'Coty'. The rectangular pink fabric puff also bears the name 'Coty' in gold lettering, and there is still some powder within the base. Highly collectible, and as useable today as when it was made.
This compact is in very good condition - the high quality manufacture has stood the test of time. The only flaw I can find is a tiny dent on the inner lid which is clearly shown in the images. The puff has been used but is still in good condition.
