About This Item
This special set ofcloisonne decorative quilting pins is sure to please the sewer, quilter or stitcher on your gift-giving list and they make great stocking stuffers.
They are extra-long (2 5/8" / 7 cm) and also make great lapel or shawl pins...or use them to decorate your pincushion.
The beads, which measure approx 3/4" / 18 mm across are made in the Chinese way...wire shapes filled with enamel.
Colours may vary from those in the photograph.
Cloisonné
The history of "inlaying" colorful materials onto a metal base, and securing their position with soldered wire dates back to 1800 BC, in Egypt. During the 13th century BC in ancient Greece, powdered glass was used to fill cavities (aka "cells") made by filigree soldered wire, then fired to produce colorful decorative objects.
The word "Cloisonné" is used to describe both a finished art object, and a process. Cloisonné is a labor-intensive craft involving a complex multi-step enamel process, that can produce stunning results.
I went "all out" on the packaging for these pins using original graphics of my own design.
I'm always happy to combine shipping on multiple orders, please email me if you have questions.
Thanks for dropping by.
