I love decorating boxes. When I start on a box, the only thing I know for sure is the basic color that the box is going to be painted--from there everything is a free form creation. The designs and the decorations on the boxes evolved organically, though the motifs and the patterns are isnpired from my Indian heritage. That is why each box is unique in its own way.
Painted designs, chiyogami paper, ribbons, mother of pearl coins, ceramic beads were used to create this decorative box.. The base of the box is decorated with gold thread ribbon and embellished beads.
The ribbons while adding to the charm of the box also create a very sturdy box.
The oval shaped box is made of wood and measures approx 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" by 2 1/4".
