Anabel Dean is my all time favorite hat to wear, the one I reach for most often, and the one I recommend to women who are new to hat wearing. It is the perfect hat for these reasons:
It is light as a feather because the material is handwoven from a very fine weight, smooth straw called parisisal.
It is entirely comfortable to wear because it FITS thanks in part to an adjustable inside cotton/rayon grosgrain ribbon band.
It is a handmade hat from my original design, and handsewn by me into asymetrical "waves" with a wired brim (also a bit wavy). It is fun to wear and has a lot of style and flair.
It can be worn casually with jeans and a t-shirt, or a simple skirt and top, or a cotton dress.
It can be dressed up for an entirely different look with the addition of a flower pin, hat pin or brooch.
If all this weren't enough good reasons to own and wear this hat, the bonus is that it is packable. Whether you are going on vacation and pack it, or wear it to the wedding and Aunt Maude sits on it (or as happened to me, a friend sat on it in the passenger's seat of the car), or to lunch, or to the play park and your toddler crawls over the top of it, this hat does not resist being flattened. It is not too precious to wear. It looks better for wear AND tear. It is the perfect hat.
