This is an Art quilt made using a new technique I have been developing that I call 'torn strip applique'. The view is a strip of shoreline on Lake Winnipeg where we go looking for fossils that have broken free from the rocks by the winter ice.
Interestingly, from a distance the quilt has the appearance of an oil painting!
Another art quilt made with this technique, "The Beach Where the Fox Lives', was juried into the 'Fantastic Fibers 2011' art quilt show.
I have attached fabric triangles on the back corners to house a small stick to hang the quilt from. Simply drop the hole onto a nail in the wall. There is one at the bottom as well to make sure it hangs flat against the wall. These sticks are included.
