"Proximities": A set of two pieces, shaped from rosewood, polished with natural tung oil and embellished with copper and labradorite stone, inspired by steampunk and neovictorian aesthetic.
The labradorite pieces used are small enough to show light through the stone, but still retain the iridescent qualities labradorite is known for.
This piece was crafted by hand and simple machine on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and finished with tung oil to protect it from the elements during outdoor pursuits and airship maintenance procedures.
Utilitarian purposes include hair-gathering, perhaps simple prying tool, clothing restraint (such as woven through a scarf or shawl) and elegant fashion accessory for the next gala celebrating the latest advances in mad science.
May be worn together or separately in multiple combinations!
Each stick measures approximately 7 inches long, 1 inch at the widest, and about 1/2 an inch thick. The labradorite pieces are about 1/2 an inch long. Tung oil comes from the seed of the nut of the tung tree - please buy with caution if you have severe nut allergies.
Thanks to steampunk22 (steampunk22.wordpress.com) who collaborated with me on this piece!
