These planters can be used for regular house plants, bulb forcing, and bonsai trees. Some people decide to put pillar candles or candy in the planters instead.
The two walls are initially thrown on the wheel and allowed to partially dry to a leather hard state. The designs are carved in using an Exacto knife. Once the piece is completely dry, the edges are smoothed with a scouring pad (yes, just like the one in my kitchen) and it is fired to a bisque state. The piece is then glazed and fired a second time. This piece measures 4" high by 6 1/2" wide. The inside wall measures 4" wide. It is high fired stoneware clay with blue glazes.
