"Osage Orange Vessel" is made out of osage Orange or commonly known as hedge. This piece of wood was saved from my firewood pile. It has a wonderful yellow coloring. Hedge is one of the hardest woods out there. It is the very first wood I ever turned some 22 years ago. I think my professor was making a joke of me. "Let's get Mark to turn this chunk of wood". Anyway back to this vessel. It is an ornamental piece not intended for food or liquid. It is finished in French Polish (shellac).
