Beautiful, illustrated (vivid pictures) vintage book with a variety of stories. Smooth, green blue fabric, hard cover with black sailboats and sea gulls on cover, creates a beautiful package. 3rd or 4th grade reading level, I would think, or younger if read to. Divided into 7 sections: About Boys and Girls, Then and Now Stories, Fun with Animal Friends, Early Days in Our Country, Look Around Outdoors, Friends in Other Lands, and Magic Stories. A short word list for the third reader is also included in book. 344 pages.
Authors are; Arthur I. Gates, Miriam Blanton Huber, Celeste Comegys Peardon. Published in February, 1939 by the MacMillan Company. Reprinted in 1939, 1940, 1941, 1944, 1945. This book is in nice condition. Some wear on corners and minor surface wear on fabric cover. Pages in nice condtion for vintage age. Front inside cover with pink design had name written in pencil and erased, see photo top left inside cover. Number marking on opposite cover, see photo. Binding is in great condition. Measures 8" x 6" almost 1" thick.
