This artsy scarf measures 8” (20 cm) wide by 62” (157 cm) long with machine rolled hem along 38” length of teal cotton fabric with hot pink thread zigzag stitching. At each end I have machine stitched a teal appliqué machine embroidered and quilted with pink, purple and gold stitching forming intertwining leaves. Found these appliqués in a bin at a fabric store years ago (not sure what they were for but I have creatively repurposed them to embellish this scarf!)
Teal fabric has vertical silver pin stripes with little slubs on the reverse. (What are slubs? It has to do with process prior to weaving the cotton, where the cotton is twisted, and the slightly irregular "twists" or lumps are incorporated into the weave. So it has just a little bit of a texture to it.)
I have only made 2 of these scarves as I had just enough of this beautiful teal fabric left!
Hand washing is recommended to enjoy your scarf for years to come. But you may machine wash on gentle cycle in lingerie bag in cold water with mild detergent. Line dry.
