The frame was sturdy and in good shape, and I immediately see I could repurpose it into a cork board. I simply couldn't pass this up. After turning it around, I covered the border with a variety of multicolored silk flowers and leaves, also rescued during my trips to the arts and crafts stores in town. I glued a great collection of corks in a funky pattern, and there you have it, from garbage to recycled gorgeousness.
You can use this message board as an information center to tack on important reminders, shopping lists, phone numbers, bills to pay, etc. The flowers remind me of a colorful lei, so the perfect thing to tack to it would be plane tickets to Hawaii (plane tickets sadly not included).
This board measures about 19 ½ x 19 ½ inches (~ 50 x 50 cm), and weighs 6 lb (2.7 Kg). The corks are both natural and synthetic, from wineries in Italy, Spain, France, Chile, Argentina, Washington, and California. As with all my boards, I work hard to make sure there are NO duplicates. All the corks are soft enough that you can use pushpins on them. It comes with attached hardware, ready to be hung.
