The woman's name was PtesanWi which translated White Buffalo Calf Woman. She taught the Lakotas many sacred rituals and gave them the chanunpa or sacred pipe which is the holiest of all worship symbols. After teaching the people and giving them her gifts, PtesanWi left them promising to return. Later, the story became attributed to the goddess Wohpe, also known as Whope, or Wope.

This is the largest crochet doll I have made. Inspired by a pattern I once saw. She is over 10" tall. She holds in her hand a sacred pipe that I have fashioned out of baked clay and glazed. It is adorned with craft fur (not real fur), leather thonging, feathers and beads. The doll has braided hair adorned with feathers and leather thonging, her dress has pony beads around the trim.
She comes with a blanket you can either set her on or wrap around her. She is filled with fiberfill and a bit of poly pellets for weight.

Due to pieces on this doll, she is recommended for show only, and not recommended for children.
Doll filled with Reiki energy before shipment.

Artist's Comments: I loved making this doll. I don't think people realize that although she seems simplistic, there's a lot of details on her including: braided hair, pony beads framing her fringe work, and the sacred pipe she's holding I made out of baked clay. It is glazed for protection and strung with leather thonging, feathers and beads.
