Vintage Ink Blotter

Antique brass rocking blotter. Blotting is frequently necessary when using dip pens and occasionally when using fountain pens. The blotter paper can be easily changed, the back is spring loaded. Paper can be cut from desk blotter paper if you wish to use it for it's original purpose or just as a beautiful desk accessory. If you are a writing enthusiast into fountain pens, india ink, inkwells, sealing wax and seals, you will love this.

When used to remove ink from writings, the writing may appear in reverse on the surface of the blotting paper, a phenomenon which has been used as a plot device in a number of detective stories.

Beautiful brass patina, could be polished. No doubt nearly a hundred years old.
