In creating this necklace, I thought of the pristine beaches and emerald lagoons of New Caledonia, the world’s largest marine treasure trove. A fascinating large solar quartz heart (about 26.5mm) is the focal in this necklace, with overflowing clusters of iridescent Madagascan green and ocean-deep-blue sapphires, Caribbean and Peacock blue apatite, teal-green moss aquamarine and tassels of deep-green seed pearls. I added a couple of glistening champagne citrine for the color of white-sand beaches.

The clusters of gems are wired to a 14K goldfilled coiled bail of a large creamy baroque freshwater pearl. The pendant piece dangles freely from a silky 925 sterling silver curb chain with a lobster claw clasp closure.

The necklace measures about 18 inches (45.7 cm) in length and the pendant drop is about 2.4 inches (6 cm) in length.

Can’t decide if this necklace is the right length for you? Cut a piece of string or yarn to the length of this necklace (18 inches) and try this on to see if the pendant falls to a complimentary spot on your body. Remember, some yarns stretch and you might want to leave a little extra length for the tie.
