Illustrated by Maud Humphrey, primarily known today as Humphrey Bogart's mother, she was a prolific illustrator at the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries, gracing calendars, cards, books, prints, and so on. Maud favored a certain kind of Victorian child: innocent, plump, very feminine, and often with a touch of shadow to its smile. Her attention to the fashions of the day are well appreciated now; these kids are always dressed to the nines with all manner of hats, ribbons, layers of lace, etc.
CONDITION of this yard-long framed print is Excellent! Incredibly well-preserved for being 100+ years old; other than some very slight rippling under the glass, there are no rips, tears, folds or creases. The ornate gilded wood frame, mat, and glass are new.
PLEASE NOTE: I had to deepen the saturation of the colors a bit to show the detail; print color depth most resembles photo #4. If you have any questions about its color, or would like more photos, please convo me!
Measures framed 42.5 inches wide [108cm] by 17 inches high [43.2cm]. Published in 1904 by the Gray Lithograph Company of NY.
