"The inspiration behind this image actually came from another doodle I had created while sitting in a boring meeting at work. I had liked the necklace/pearl-like element I had created in the previous drawing and decided to make it the focus of this drawing. To create this art piece I took that doodle, "imploded" and "exploded" it using a xerox machine, and constructed a new image out of all the various parts I had altered in size." - Katie Kortman

Letterpress is a centuries-old printing process. It involves an inked and raised form being pressed into the paper, creating an impression that you can see and feel. At Sycamore Street Press, we hand crank our goods one sheet of paper and one color at a time through our vintage Vandercook #3 letterpress. We pay close attention to detail, but the hand crafted nature of the process does lead to some variation in color and impression. These are an inherent part of the process, and add to its bespoke charm.
