It is a fantasy character, a Dragonfly Queen, the original design based on a 1900 evening gown design by Charles Fredrick Worth -- the effect of my carefully planned and executed embellishments and fabric treatment to resemble a exotic female figure, rising from the murky waters of her domain.
The undergown has been dyed and painted moire taffeta with pleated dyed taffeta ruffles below, further enhanced with sequin butterflies and antiqued vintage studs. The overlayer is a cotton lace that has been dyed and painted then embellished with gems, sequined bugs and butterflies and hand beaded dragonfly pins (that can be removed for cleaning)
The sleeves are black silk netting with vintage lace edging and more appliques and strategically placed holes. The front neckline is beaded. The gown front has iridescent tissue lame with webbing stitchwork and tiny bodice ties.
The back is graced with fabulous wings that fall artfully from the shoulders, wings of iridescent tissue and sturdy netting, so it is deceptively fragile looking.
The price given here does NOT reflect the price of a NEW costume but is being offered here on Etsy at a reduced price. If you wish for a custom gown just for you, please convo me for more information.
That said, this gown is from my personal collection and has been gently worn and (despite its rather decayed look)is in very good repair. Includes matching head wreath. Closes with zipper and hook and eye.
The gown can be worn by itself or with a corset. The corset is not included, but we make corsets too, please ask for information.
