Sorrento is a town in southern Italy, perched on high cliffs across the bay of Naples. The city is a popular tourist center and summer resort. This doll is wearing a colourful tarantella costume and a tambourine. The tarantella is a traditional Neapolitan dance. It is a "danza d’amore" (dance of love), and like every love story it includes moments of courtship, refusal, argument, and peace making. The costume is a traditional Neapolitan costume with the typical kerchief on the head, all in bright colours. This doll is a typical souvenir doll.
