I first sculpted a clay head and fired it, then pressed it into a special sand mix to make a mold of it, ladled molten glass into the mold, and let it slowly cool over a week in a kiln before grinding and polishing the sides into prisms.
This piece is especially powerful in a windowsill or somewhere that direct sun shines through it because it will refract the light through multiple angles and send beams of rainbow colored light into a room. This will depend on the angle of the sun and the angle of the piece, it's pretty fun to see how each turn of the piece changes the light within and around it.
It's 5.5 inches tall, 4.25 inches wide, and 3.5 inches deep.
A beautiful and uplifting piece of cast glass sculpture that does amazing things with light.
