This is made with an 8 GIG drive with a built in micro SD reader. It works like any 8 gig drive but with a twist. It can also store and access a micro SD card of any capacity.
When this is plugged into the computer it opens two "removeable drive" folders. One for the 8 gig drive and one for the micro SD card. Data can be stored to the 8 GIG drive or the micro SD card. Data can also be transfered back and forth between the card and drive. The SD card can easily be swapped or upgraded any time the user chooses.
For those unfamiliar with micro SD cards, they're the standard memory media for the new smart phones and PDA devices. They're very durable, inexpensive and available in high capacities.
The construction is similar to my other drives. It's made with brass, copper, glass and watch/clock parts. The metal connections are made with silver solder and an acetylene torch. I put a lot of time into the fit and finish. There are no rough edges or half connected parts.
A red light in the window glows while it's plugged in and flashes while transfering data.
This does NOT come with the micro SD card. Micro SD cards can be purchased in your choice of capacity from many local and online retailers.
