TOBACCO smelling salts - headache and migraine treatment

TOBACCO smelling salts - headache and migraine treatment
zoom
Smelling salts are back in style (at least in my early 19th century world!). Traditionally made from a combination of ammonium carbonate and perfume, smelling salts were used used to revive people from faints, and are often associated with frail 19th century women. Some athletes use them before competition as a pick-me-up, or coaches may use smelling salts to revive an athlete who has been injured. Some of the ingredients in smelling salts are actually potentially quite dangerous -- Portland General Store smelling salts are 100% natural and should be used as an aromatherapy pick-me-up.

While I certainly don't promote smoking, I love the scent of tobacco. Tobacco, like caffeine, is a stimulant and can relieve the symptoms of headache and migraine (which I personally suffer from). This smelling salt is balanced by hints of lavender and has a light smoky, tarry, and sweet scent.

Etymology: Nicotiana, in honour of Jean Nicot de Villemain, in 1559-61 the French ambassador in Portugal. He sent a box of pulverized tobacco to Catherine of Medici as a cure against her migraine. Lat. tabacum, from West Indian 'tabaco'.

Packaged in a vintage blue or green glass 5 ml bottle with silver screw on cap.
