I live in wine country, and fancy wines get packed in wooden boxes. Sometimes I have to be near a company that makes these boxes. One day I stopped by and looked in their scrap pile, and took home some pieces thinking that I could make something out of them. Here is one example.
I covered a piece of wood about 7 ¼ x 3 ¼ inches (~18.5 x 8 cm) with paint chip pieces, and gave it a couple of coats of water-based varnish, for a satiny finish. I hand-drilled holes for four hooks. The hanger has a sawtooth hook on the back for easy hanging.
This would be perfect for the hard-to-shop men in your life.
