The loopy Shasta mohair was very delicate and parts showed some damage from age, so plying the two was very difficult and time-consuming. The mohair ply is quite delicate, but when twisted with the wool singles, the yarn became strong and hasn't shown signs of breakage. There are two or three knots in the yarn due to breakage of the Shasta while plying.
This is one of my favorite yarns I've made yet!
One strand 100% wool/one strand 88% mohair and 12% nylon
96 yds
two-ply worsted weight
recommended needle size: 10
Project suggestions: this yarn would be best utilized as accent or trim on a larger piece. Try it for cuffs on mittens or a stripe on a hat!
Mmmm, yarn!
