This lacy cuff is so soft and delicate! A lovely combination of hand knit and hand crocheted angora lace and purple glass beads, crowned with a lavender posy. A soft, delicate corsage that blooms forever! To see even more details, click on the large photo - this will bring up an even larger version of the same photo in a new tab.
Starting with fiber that is hand-dyed and then handspun by myself into fine laceweight Lacewood Yarn, this lace trellis cuff is then carefully knit by hand, knitting the beads into it as I go. I then crocheted the bold and elegant trim along the bottom, which then wraps along the ends of the cuff, creating a network of loops for lacing the cuff closed. The two lavender flowers are knit separately and then carefully stitched to the cuff by hand. The yarns are 2 ply yarns, made from 1 strand of angora & 1 strand of soysilk plied together. The angora gives this cuff the soft, fuzzy "halo" effect that angora is so famously loved for. The soysilk, virtually identical to "regular" silk, adds a subtle lustre and a hint of color that catches the light beautifully. Spun together and knitted up, they create a lovely lace that is so soft you want to pet it!
This cuff is designed to fit a wide range of wrists. The "corset style" lacing can be loosened a fair amount to accommodate wider wrists, creating sexy x's where the lacing crosses over one's bare wrist between the sides of the bracelet. The lacing itself is made of beaded satin ribbon, but the nature of the crocheted lace loops that it runs through is stretchy, so once the cuff lacing has been adjusted to fit the size of your wrist, you can tie the lacing in a bow and leave it that way, and the cuff will stretch sufficiently to slide on and off of most hand sizes without having to be retied. In the photo above, the lacing is tied all the way closed so that both edges of the cuff meet, and the lacing is tied in a double-bow to take up the extra length of lacing. If you have a small wrist and would prefer a shorter ribbon, simply tie another knot further up on each end, and snip off the extra ribbon. A little clear nail polish will keep the ends of the ribbon from fraying. Ta-da! A perfect fit. This cuff will fit a little loosely but still look great on a 6" wrist! For a nice, snug, close-to-the-wrist fit it is ideal for wrists 6 and 1/2" and larger.
This bracelet is approximately 6 and 1/2" around. It is 2 and 5/8" wide at the narrowest points, and 3 and 1/2" wide at the widest points; these measurements are approximate due to the stretchy nature of knitting.
Like all Lacewood items, this cuff comes from a smoke-free, cat & rabbit friendly home. The angora in this bracelet comes from an overprivileged house rabbit named Spot, and you can "meet" him on the Lacewood Facebook Page! Click on the Photos tab, go to the second page, and click on the photo album for Splendiferous Spot. Isn't he cute? There are videos as well on the YouTube tab - see for yourself what a grand life my bunnies lead!

Also, the soysilk in this yarn is a byproduct of tofu, NOT silkworms, and it is entirely vegan. So you can revel in the soft splendor of this luxurious lace cuff knowing that no critters were harmed in its making. In fact, it makes the world a *better* place for bunnies - because when you buy this yarn, 10% of the price is donated to Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue!

The dye in this item is completely non-toxic. Hand-wash if necessary ONLY in COLD water very very gently with mild soap (liquid hand soap is ideal). Do not leave to soak, and DO NOT RUB. Some running may occur in the wash-water, but the yarn itself is quite colorfast and will not fade! Stretch gently to shape and lay flat to dry.
Insurance is included in the cost of shipping *all* Lacewood items, to guarantee your little luxuries get to you safely! :-)

Lacewood Yarns are among the highest quality laceweight yarns - the finest gauge, highest wpi, the strongest, and most evenly-spun available. They are luxury yarns, laboriously made from the finest materials, guaranteed vegan-friendly and cruelty-free because all animal fibers come from my own bunny, or other animals I know personally! And Lacewood Yarns support bunnies in need - 10% of all yarn sales are donated to Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue.
Want to know more?
* Lacewood Yarns are HIGH QUALITY laceweight yarns. They are among the finest gauge, highest WPI (wraps per inch) yarns available, for the most delicate and elegant of lace knitting and crocheting. They are also spun *strong*! Many handspun laceweight yarns are loosely spun and easily broken, and all of your hours of lacemaking are easily unraveled! Lacewood laceweight is strong and stands up to daily wear and most of the occasional snags of daily living. It is also some of the most evenly-spun handspun yarn available. There are very minor variations in the thickness of my yarn - it *is* handspun yarn, and this is part of its beauty, but you will be amazed at how consistent and smooth Lacewood laceweight yarn looks in finished garments - allowing the focal point of your projects to be your creative knitting and crocheting skills, not just your choice of yarn!
* Lacewood Yarns are luxury yarns, using only the FINEST MATERIALS! I specialize in angora and soysilk yarns. Angora fiber often sells for the same price as silver, ounce for ounce! There is nothing softer than angora. It is 8 times warmer than wool, making it perfect for lightweight lace knitting - all those holes make for excellent ventilation! And when you really really want a warm scarf, nothing beats angora for warmth and softness - and it doesn't itch. Soysilk is almost identical to regular silk in sheen and in strength - plied with a strand of angora, it adds a beautiful gleam to contrast the soft fuzziness of angora. Soysilk is a fiber made from the byproducts of tofu, of all things! Most people cannot distinguish soysilk from regular silk, although I think it's actually smoother - but no silkworms were harmed in the making of it! My angora/soysilk laceweight yarns are perfect for lace knitting and crocheting - the angora half of the yarn produces that glorious "halo" effect that angora is famously loved for - but because the other half of the yarn is soysilk, that halo doesn't get so fuzzy that the details of all your fine work are obscured - instead, the shiny soysilk adds stitch definition and a subtle glow. Both together have a wonderful drape in finished projects. Finally, even though soysilk is a plant fiber, because it is such a high-protein plant, it can be dyed like a protein (animal) fiber - so my undyed angora/soysilk yarns can be dyed by *you*, if you like, using your favorite protein dyes. The soysilk will dye a slightly lighter shade than the angora, giving the yarn a "moonlit" luster - so lovely!
* Lacewood Yarns are VEGAN FRIENDLY! A vegan-vegetarian myself for over 23 years, this is very, very important to me. Almost all of the angora I use comes from my very own angora rabbits. They are the most over-privileged rabbits on earth! They do *not* live outside in a barn or a hutch - they are house rabbits, and have free run of our livingroom and kitchen whenever we are home and awake, which usually amounts to between 6-16 hours a day - usually towards the higher end of that, as I am self-employed and home a lot. The cage they live in when we are not home or awake to supervise their doings is a ginormous 2 level bunny castle; enough space for them to roam about without feeling confined. They play hide-and-seek with our cat, lounge about under the rocking chairs, love to be hand-fed their greens, and brushed, and cuddled and held like babies. They think they're royalty, and we don't do anything to disabuse them of this notion. The soysilk I use, as I've already mentioned, comes from tofu, not silkworms, so no silkworms were harmed in its making. On those rare occasions when I use angora or wool from animals that I don't live with, it is fiber from animals I know personally, from people I know personally - I know exactly how those animals are cared for and have personally seen that they are well-tended, well-loved and happy animals! I specify where the fiber comes from for each of my handspun yarns so you can see and decide for yourself. But when you buy Lacewood yarn, you *know* you are buying yarn that comes *ONLY* from HAPPY WELL-LOVED ANIMALS!
* Lacewood Yarns SUPPORT BUNNIES IN NEED! Did you know that there is a huge overpopulation problem of unwanted and abandoned bunnies, just like dogs and cats? My bunnies live a life of luxury and are so well cared-for and over-privileged it's almost embarrassing. But many, many bunnies are not so lucky. Rabbits are *very* labor intensive pets, and most people who bring them home have no idea what they're getting into. Consequently, many of them end up in shelters, and many of those bunnies are euthanized every year. Thanks to the big hearts and hard work of people like the folks at Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue, not all abandoned bunnies share that fate - some find foster homes until they can be adopted into forever homes. But housing, feeding, and proper medical care gets expensive and these organizations need help! So when you buy Lacewood Yarn, 10% of the cost of the yarn is donated to Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue, so that they can continue to do the wonderful work that they do, and so that more bunnies have the chance to find homes like the one my bunnies have with me. All bunnies should be so lucky.
