It is glazed with my own special combination of ingredients to create this delicious, deep, tropical ocean colour. I put some broken glass in the bottom of the pot and this has melted in the kiln and blended with the glaze to give a stunning crystalline watery effect. The glass forms a perfectly smooth surface to the bottom of the bowl, but beneath the surface it cracks and fragments. These cracks catch the light and sparkle like jewels.
It would make the perfect holder for a candle, it's great as a soap dish, or you could use it to keep rings and jewelry safe. I keep mine on my bathroom windowsill so that the crackles under the surface catch the sunlight and glisten.
It's delicate shape was given strength by my use of very strong, textured, creamy white clay, which I fired to stoneware temperature. I didn't glaze the outside, and added a little subtle fabric texture because I wanted the natural beauty of the clay to shine through and create contrast.
