I use annealed steel wire on many of my pieces. It has the 'old world' look I love. I love how it feels and sounds, and I love the strength it possesses. It is not stainless steel and if it gets wet and is not dried off, it will rust. I sand and polish the wire with paste wax to protect it from rusting, on every piece I make. I recommend reapplying a very thin coat of paste wax if it ever gets wet. If rust develops it can be removed easily with fine steel wool. After removing any rust, reapply wax by putting on a thin coat and buffing it off.
