For evening with a fancy yarn, beach wear with a cotton, for over a shirt or sweater in a mohair or 12 ply wool. The options are endless. Whether you make it in variegated yarn or in solid yarn, cotton or mohair or anything between this is a great little piece.
The original blues Shell was created for my Colour Play Exhibition held in Auckland in late 2007.
It is simple to create because the body is knitted in the round which also makes it a speedy knit. In the event of you not being sure of a garment with a rolled edge I am including an option of a ribbed bottom edge in the pattern.
If you have not yet created a garment by knitting in the round, this method enables you to knit every row until you divide for the armholes. Then you continue back and forth with knit and purl rows alternating to create the stockinette (stocking) stitch.
It is created with 12 ply yarns. It can be created with one colour or one yarn, or many colours and different yarns depending on your stash or your colour wishes. Knitting a pattern using 12 ply enables you to combinations of 4ply or 8ply to match the required tension to to create something absolutely unique.
