A delicious chocolate cupcake with whipped vanilla frosting and a cherry on top? Not exactly.
Brown felt, topped with acrylic/nylon blend frosting with an emery filled felt cherry, in a silicone cupcake liner is more accurate. Cute and rather realistic looking, isn’t it?
This pincushion is made from ecospun polyester felt made from recycled post-consumer plastic bottles. The cupcake is stuffed with polyester fiber-fil.
The cherry is filled with emery - a mineral that keeps pins and needles sharp. You can see what emery looks like in the last photo.
I added a polypropylene web strap to my cupcake pincushions. Now they're even more functional than before!
The strap secures with two D Rings. I have no trouble at all putting it on myself. It stays nice and snug too.
The strap will fit any wrist up to 8 1/2 inches. If your wrist is much smaller, you won't want a long tail hanging. I'd be happy to trim it to your size or you could do it yourself. Just trim and melt the edge by holding it close to a flame. It will just take seconds to achieve a custom fit.
This cupcake pincushion is all hand stitched. No glue was used.
The cupcake is approximately 2 3/4 inches across (7 cm) and 2 inches (5 cm) high. The cherry is about another 1/2 inch high.
The pins are not included with the pincushion.
The pincushion pictured is not the one you'll receive. It'll look just like it though.
