This versatile neck piece was created for the Use the Muse IV contest, sponsored by Scarlett Lanson, a contributing editor of Beadwork magazine. Two separate neck straps can be removed and work separately as bracelets or together with the centerpiece for a stunning necklace.

The earthy blend of browns and blacks in this contest kit immediately brought to mind the addition of serene greenish blue, and the laser-cut wooden pendant anchored this eclectic deign. A layer of copper mica was hand stamped to bring out the pendant's detail and a beaded flower in the center pulls together the colors used throughout the piece. The strap on the left is double spiral rope enhanced with Japanese drops and terminating with Czech glass rondells. The strap on the right began with a leather cord to which a band of herringbone weave and a separate band of right angle weave were add and twisted to a lovely effect. Hand beaded toggles and toggle bars complete the design allowing the wearer ultimate flexibility. The beaded rings on the focal piece were adapted from a Cindy Pankopf pattern.
