Leaving a gift for the wee folk is an ancient custom. Our forebears mainly left food for the fae for one of two reasons: to entice benevolent faeries to provide assistance or to payoff local faeries to leave them alone. Usually such gifts were left only after faerie activity had been noted, such as when a milkmaid would arrive to find the milk already churned into butter or a farmer would find his prize cows milked dry overnight. Common gifts were grain, butter, and cream, the top commodities of the day. As the economy grew, so did the offerings, which came to include semi-precious stones, shiny coins, fancy ribbons and other items of similar worth. Today, such offerings are made to attract the good folk to one’s home or garden, and this wee bowl is perfect for such rituals and to place upon your faerie altar.
Made of 28-gauge Artistic Wire in peacock blue, it is as delicate and lacy as a faerie’s wing and just as pretty. So small it fits in the palm of your hand, it measures a mere 2" (5.08 cm) across at the rim, 1" (2.54 cm) across at the bowl, and ¾" (1.905) high. There are almost 800 stitches in this teeny little treasure!
I'll only make this treasure once, which makes it OOAK (one of a kind) and means you will receive the exact item shown in the photographs, ready to ship. I may be able to re-size a treasure, change a clasp style, or modify the type of ear wire at no additional cost, so if you desire a modification, please Etsy convo me BEFORE placing your order.
Your treasure will arrive in a custom handmade gift box using recycled materials, such as beautiful faerie calendar pages, that you can reuse on a vanity or fill with scented cotton balls and place into your lingerie drawer.
