This bracelet has a broken hinge, and was held together with wire. The only functional repair was to drill the filigree and put in sterling silver loops, this work was done by a jeweler. While slightly rough in appearance, it is a functional, solid and comfortable repair, which actually blends in with the filigree and disappears when on.
So flaws aside, the filigree in this set is absolutely amazing; ornate, detailed, and with fine metal wire. There are some places on the bracelet where the silver plating has worn off and copper is visible, but 95% of the silver plating shows no wear. There is no corrosion or verdigris. The bracelet box clasp works well. The screw backs on the earrings work well. There is some wear to the silver plating on the back of the earrings on the screw back findings.
The ivory panels are genuine pre-ban carved ivory, the texture is visible under magnification, but is otherwise obscurred by the ornate three dimensional carvings. The carvings are free of chips, cracks, or scratches. The little tiles depict Japanese Geishas (I think these women are Geishas and not Chinese Courtiers by the dress and hair styles) in different activities. The ivory has yellowed slightly with age, and is polished to a high shine.
The earrings are 3/4 inches by 5/8 inches with a dimensional height of 1/4 inch. The little ivory tiles in the earrings are 5/8 inches by 3/8 inches.
The bracelet is 7 1/4 inches by 1 7/16 inches with a dimensional height of 3/8 inches. Each section of the bracelet is slightly domed, with would add a little length to the size of the bracelet when worn, maybe 1/4 inch. The back of the bracelet is completely intact with no breaks or dents in the filigree work.
I have seen these piece dated to as early as 1910, this piece is circa 1910-1930 to my best estimate. I have more photos of the set, please convo if you would like the rest of the photos.
