I carved this little bird from wax, hollowed it out, and cast it in sterling silver using the lost wax method. Each bird is cast from my original mold and hand finished with a soft brushed finish, and each one comes stamped with my maker's mark to show it's an original piece by Jo Hollingsworth.
The fourth photo shows the birds after I cast them and before I detach them from the sprues. After this I file the edges flat, solder the two halves together, and hand finish them. You can see here how thick the walls are on these pieces. They're very sturdy!
