‘Lion’s Pride’ was created with the inspiration of two touching Lion tales that grabbed at my heart. The Disney classic ‘The Lion King’, the story of Simba the cub in his ventures to be coming a King, and the touching story of ‘Christian the Lion’ with who was reunited with his domestic family after being released in the African wildlife after he became too big to be domesticated. In both stories the stories end with the fully grown King Lion with a proud Queen Lioness at his side and for this reason I forged the masks inlaid within gold mirror, shiny glass, handmade branches, leaves and berries symbolizing their reign in the jungle. The masks were framed in antique looking barn wood and finished with gold toned wire for the whiskers as well as gold toned balls at the tips.

As with all my creations, Lion’s Pride is a handmade, signed, one-of-a-kind mask that can be copied, but not duplicated. Each piece is lovingly hand formed, mosaics pieces are individually hand-cut, meticulously arranged, and the glazes are applied with three to six coats to achieve the best color enhancement.
