What is Encaustic?
Encaustic is an ancient technique where beeswax and damar resin are melted together to create a medium that can be used in a variety of ways. Layers of encaustic medium are painted on sturdy substrate, usually wood, and each layer is fused together with heat. Encaustic gives an ethereal feel and has a beautiful luminosity.
Will it melt?
Beeswax has a melting point of around 160 degrees so it's not necessary to keep it in a cool room, however, it's recommended to keep it away from heat sources such as fireplaces and heaters.
