I have made my hat with 100% cotton yarn, but most any medium to light weight yarn is suitable. You will only need to know basic crochet skills to accomplish construction of this hat. Size is determined by measurements and not by crochet gauge, making it easy to accomplish a perfect fit.
This step by step pattern is so simple to follow, even for a beginner. There are also many beautiful pictures of different hats made with this pattern.
