• This beautiful birdhouse is made from reclaimed, exterior grade wood that has developed a beautiful patina.
• The Mourning Dove loves an open air nest – which is what this design creates, with just a little bit of protection from the element.
• Design features include:
o Gracefully sloped and overhanging roof
o Oversized entrance doorway with good line of sight for the bird
o Ventilation / drain holes drilled into floor of birdhouse
• Construction details:
o Construction is 1” reclaimed wood
o The wood is unfinished, but is very resistant to degradation by insects and the elements and ages beautifully
• Ideal location for this birdhouse is 5 to 15 feet under an eave or window sill around the house or close to the home in the yard on a fence or a tree – doves are very human tolerant.

o Urban sprawl, pesticide use, and disease has put pressure on the population of several urban bird species – so, providing birds a home will help rebalance this trend
• Each of the birdhouses is built with a particular backyard bird in mind – matching each bird’s particular nesting behavior to the design. Our designs are first and foremost functional to meet the needs of the bird and then secondarily aesthetic for people to view – for example, we don’t use bird perches because although they are "cute" – we believe they only make it easier on the predator that is hunting the bird and not the bird itself.
• In our attempt to minimize environmental impact – several of the birdhouses are constructed from reclaimed wood that we repurposed and recycled.
