Eight vintage postcards showing some traditional costumes of the Free State of Bavaria in Germany. The cards must be from between 1960 and 1985 (5 cards were actually sent).
Bavaria is a state of Germany, located in the southeast of the country; it is the largest German state by area, forming almost 20% of the total land area of Germany. Its capital is Munich in Upper Bavaria. Modern Bavaria also includes parts of the historical regions of Franconia and Swabia. Traditional costumes collectively known as Tracht are worn on special occasions and include Lederhosen for men and Dirndl for women. The first three cards show costumes from Swabian Allgäu in the southwest of Bavaria; the legendary Neuschwanstein Castle (see card three) is located in the eastern part of Allgäu. The fourth card shows a couple from Franconia, in the north of Bavaria. The rest of the cards show upper Bavarian costumes.

All cards come from my own traditional costume collection; because of space shortage, I sell parts of it here on Etsy.

Payment can be done by Paypal and within the EU also by direct bank transfer. Details on request.
