I've embroidered it with a celtic spiral in the center, using red and black with a touch of metallic silver. Red and white are the colors of Imbolc. Red, white and black are Brighid's colors. Each corner has a lacy candle design in red and silver, with a yellow flame. The candles represent the return of the light, and the approach of the new growing season, as the sun's strength will increase over the coming months. Also, Brighid is associated with sacred flames, holy wells, and healing as both a goddess and a saint, so I thought that candles were especially appropriate.
The hem is stitched with red thread, using a knotwork-like stitch.
