When I found the stock certificate that inspired this piece I immediately realized that if I were to simply cut the circular medallion out of the corner I would be separating it from the gorgeous scrollwork on either side of it...and that would be criminal. I had never before seen such beautiful scrollwork surrounding the corner ornament of a certificate and I thought that separating the medallion from it would be like splitting soul mates. I decided to keep it intact knowing that this was the proper thing to do.
THE CONSTRUCTION:
To make this piece I used a single sheet of heavy gauge sterling silver which I pierced, sawed and then meticulously filed so that the openings revealed the intricately etched scrollwork. The paper stock certificate is encased in resin allowing it to be incorporated into this piece of jewelry without worrying about it being damaged by the usual suspects. There is another layer of silver, also pierced, sawn and filed, behind which sits the center medallion of the certificate. All of this is backed with a full sheet of sterling silver with a custom clasp and marked with the Pink Crow Studio stamp.
The pendant measures 3.25" H, 2" W and just a bit under 1/4" thick.
