Who's William McKinley?
President McKinley was in office from 1897-1901, making him the last President to hold office in the 19th century and the first President to hold office in the 20th century. Before becoming President, McKinley served as a Captiain in the Union Army during the Civil War. Some quick Presidential trivia: It was during President McKinley's time in office that Hawaii became the 50th state. President McKinley appeared on the face of the $500 bill and he is one of only four Presidents to have been assassinated.
This bold colored graffiti style design features President McKinley in the foreground in black and white set against a light grey concrete wall. The words "Prosperity At Home Prestige Abroad," McKinley's 1900 campaign slogan, are featured at the bottom right in bright yellow. President McKinley's words remind us that it is usually during the darkest hour that victory is at its closest.
